Lot of 6 Nice Post-Civil War/Indian Wars percussion cap/primer tins. Tins shown are exactly the ones you’ll receive.
Oldest patent date is October 1st, 1878 (Winchester). Other tin markings include UMC (U.M.C.) , Remington UMC, and Union Metallic Company. Note two of the tin bottoms look like the Civil War era Japan tinned types.
The largest tin is missing most of its label but it matches that of a musket cap tin for J. Goldmark’s. This exact type of cap tin/box is pictured in Dean Thomas’ Civil War book Round Ball to Rimfire (Confederate; book 4) page 259 [#653] as the proper accoutrement used widely during the Civil War by CS troops.
