From a mid-west sale, a J Stevens model 44 Schuetzen style target rifle 25-20ss caliber(see photos). The wood, right hand cheek piece stock and fore stock have moderate wear, but no chips, cracks or deep scratches (see photos). The 24" octagon to round barrel measures 26" from the tip of the muzzle to the rear of the receiver. The receiver is brass or brass plated and the barrel, crescent butt plate and loading lever are blued steel, all have aged to a grey patina. The rifle has a good bore, a decent trigger and excellent sights. The rifle comes with 50 lubed cast bullets and 20 brass cases for reloading as well as a priming/depriming tool (see photos). Everything functions as it should; however some one, years ago, tried to varnish the stock and left varnish on the barrel (see photos). I am not familiar with this type of rifle but, at the sale they said this rifle was made in 1926.
