New lower price as of 8/26/24. A nicely sporterized Mauser in 7.62/308 caliber. Condition is used, and in great conditon. No crest to reveal its history but I know that Spanish contract mausers were in 7.62/308 caliber so I am going to take a guess that this is what this firearm started out as. The origin stampings were removed, all but a line of 3 dots over the serial number on the barrel. The serial numbers match, and are on the barrel, receiver, and floorplate. The bolt is in excellent condition, a bright shiny stainless, but no serial number. It has a Buehler safety for accommodation of the scope. The bolt fits tight and cycles well. The receiver, barrel, floorplate, trigger, and trigger guard appear to have been reblued. Not the modern rifle blue-ing but a fairly decent job. The barrel length is approximately 20 inches. The outer barrel has some small patches of light surface pitting like a lot of the old military rifles that had an upper hand guard on them, but most the barrel has a good smooth sheen to it. The bore is shiny and has excellent grooving. A Williams rear sight base was added, but is missing the notched blade. An engraved front ramp sight, possibly also Williams, was added and is in excellent shape. A nice scope base was added, I don’t know the brand, possibly Redfield. The ring mounts are nice and are the swing-tighten type. Has a nice Tasco Golden Antler 3x9 scope with clear crisp optics. The modern stock is well-fitted and has a nice varnish. Has less than a dozen handling marks, all of which are very tiny and light and are hard to notice. The only significant flaw in the stock, or in the whole firearm for that matter, is in the wood at the back of the upper tang, there is a short tight crack. I have a photo I can provide that will show that currently there is not much to it. All in all a good looking reliable quality rifle you don’t have to spend a fortune on. Would make a Great first deer gun for some lucky kid. I can provide several high-res photos to any SERIOUS buyer. I can also provide a short video clip of it in operation. I am not a dealer.
