From its 8D serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1981.Manufacturer was Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA, under Bangor Punta ownership. Construction is entirely steel metal, with factory magna service type Goncalo grip panels. Type is traditional double and single action revolver, hammer nose firing pin ignition with transfer bar safety device. Frame is K Medium, with Round Butt grip frame. Chambering is .357 Remington Magnum and .38 Smith & Wesson Special calibers interchangeably, with a cylinder capacity of 6 rounds. Rear cylinder face is recessed for case rims to fit flush. Barrel is One Piece 3 inch Heavy 1:18.75 five groove right hand rifling, pinned into the frame. Sight is barrel integral solid matte rib serrated blade front, with frame integral fixed notch rear. Trigger is .312 smooth faced combat type, with .265 serrated spur hammer. Double action trigger pull is 11 pounds vicinity; and the hammer travels an additional 5 to 10 degrees after the cylinder times in double action. On single action, hammer travels 20 degrees additional, and single action trigger pull is a crisp original 5pounds. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures .006. Finish is polished surface blued steel, with matte surface uppers and with color casehardened trigger and hammer. This 13-3’s surface detractions are minimal, principally a few inconspicuous finish freckles. We rate this 13 as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate.
