The old M-56 cotton web gear proved susceptible to moisture and rot in Vietnam's hot, humid climate, leading to new nylon equipment being introduced in the late 1960s to better withstand the rigors of jungle warfare. This included a nylon version of the classic "shorty" ammo pouch for the "sweet sixteen". This US Army Vietnam COLT ARMALITE M-67 OD NYLON "SHORTY" AMMO POUCH is in good condition, with some scratching to the black plastic front closure, moderate fading to the "US" marking at front, some brownish spot soiling at the lower front, some light whitish spot soiling at the top front flap, the attachment strap from the upper back having been removed, the nomenclature/date stamping at the underside of the front flap having faded away long ago, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the pouch is in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the tough OD nylon construction. Most interestingly, it's faintly "US" marked at front, boasts a fully functional black plastic closure front flap, and sports fully intact darkened metal ALICE clips at back. It features most of the original straps and snaps throughout, and is a fine example of a rare, original US Army Vietnam COLT ARMALITE M-67 OD NYLON "SHORTY" AMMO POUCH.
