The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance. The 27" barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in “BEST GUNS” from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The barrels are tight on the hinge and face, have mirror bores, tight ribs, 99% factory blue, and are choked Light Mod and Full, complete with well-timed ejectors. The receiver retains 99% factory bone and charcoal case color, it has hand chiseled borders and light scroll around the pins and screws and is in perfect mechanical condition with crisp double triggers, auto safety and perfect screws. The European Walnut has straight grain and excellent hand cut flat top checkering and a checkered butt, the furniture features a satin oil finish with very few field marks. These are known to be highly reliable guns, and this one is nice and light and a joy to handle. This AyA Model 4 is priced affordably for a hand-engraved, hand-checkered gun-what’s not to like?
